So Done With College!!!

Last Thursday I graduated from BATC in the Medical Assisting program! So exciting!!! It is weird that I am now done with college! I may go back to USU later on during the night or online classes to get an associates degree, but as for now, I am soooo done! :)

Last 2 Months or So...

Wow! The past 1 1/2 months have been packed full of stuff! Here we go trying to update my blog. ha.

I finished my externship! YAY! I got a job on the Float Pool at the Budge Clinic. Basically we fill in for people who either call in sick or ask for time off. It really is a cool program to have...that way the employee who needs time off doesn't have to find someone else...the lady over the staffing department is the one who helps make sure everyone is taken care of. So I've been working for about a full week now on that. It's tricky trying to remember what each doctor wants and how to efficiently run the office, but once you get the basics down it's not so bad.





Charlie graduated from obedience class! It was the intermediate level. We learned tricks like "On Your Bed" where they actually will climb onto/into their bed and lay down, "Wait" until we give the command and then they can come to us, and stuff like that. He's done way good! In a few months after the holidays we are going to sign him up for the advanced level obedience class! I'm excited!




This is me, my mom, and my sister's project this year to decorate our house. All it took was some creativity, some spiders, and lots of string! But it was definitely fun and it turned out great! We did have some tombstones that we bought at the new Halloween USA store, but I didn't get a chance to take a pic of those.




Charlie sure did love the pumpkins! We bought each of our dogs one little pumpkin that we carved a face into. Charlie went nuts...all he wanted to do was pick the pumpkin up by the stem and drag it around the yard!







Of course...what would a fall be without playing in the leaves?! Ha. Charlie, Wrigley (the blonde-ish dog) and Nathan (my bro) had lots of fun playing in all of the leaves they raked up.




At Petsmart this year, they had a Halloween party for dogs and cats about a week before Halloween. We definitely got into the Halloween spirit by dressing our three dogs up! Becca dressed Wrigley up as a soccer player, and Cinder (her foster dog...the black lab) as Pocahontus - complete with the braids! She HATED her costume! And of course...we had to dress Charlie up as well. He got to go as SPIDERMAN!!!!! He just absolutely adored his costume! The first time, however, he felt embarrassed until we told him how handsome he looked. Then he quite enjoyed it!





Last but not least, here is my Halloween costume. I didn't want to spend much money so I went to Macey's and got some tattoos that look like lacerations with either staples or stitches in them. They looked real! Plus, they cost like $1. So it was a great deal. I just put white makeup on my face and a black eye, and this tattoo and went as a beat up person. ha. I couldn't find my old soccer or basketball uniform so I just wore my regular clothes.

Anyways, there it is. I've been quite busy! But it's been way fun too!

Externship!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh! Tomorrow I start my externship! I'm so nervous but excited at the same time. I'm up at the Budge Clinic rotating through the float pool, which means that I get to rotate through all of the different offices within IHC. Pretty cool cuz I am not sure what sort of office I want to work at. So I get to work at offices in family practice, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and lots of others! WISH ME LUCK!!! :)

"Grandma Bea's Family Reunion"

This year was the first ever "Grandma Bea's family reunion". It was just for my dad's side of the family in celebration of our grandma (my dad's mom)...a new tradition I guess. We went up to Cherry Hills for this reunion. It was so much fun!

The majority of us cousins got the all day splash pass that allows you to swim in whatever pool or go on whatever slide you wanted. Our favorite was the rapids. You sit on this huge innertube as you go down this slide that mimicks water rapids. I mean, there's bumps, fast water, everything you could basically think of. We also went on the lazy river, which is basically just what it says...you float on either inner tubes or float or whatever around this circular river. Kinda relaxing.

Some of us also went and played mini golf, which is always fun (and kind of challenging). Me and my brother went and played aeroball, which is a basketball game where you jump on a tramp separated by this mesh wall and you try to throw the ball into the other person's hoop. We were exhausted after that! But it was definitely fun!



We took down our dog Charlie and my sister's dog Wrigley. Needless to say my cousin Brielle (the little girl I'm holding) loved Charlie which doesn't happen often...most kids love Wrigley and Charlie kind of scares them. She was adorable...she would walk right up to him and lay down next to him, pet him, and give him treats.

Update

Hiya everyone!
Sorry it's been so long...I just realized how long ago I last posted...basically a full month. ha.

Not much has been going on. Just been going to school, the singles ward, and having fun :)

Today I finished up my pass-offs for IV therapy...had to do one IV in the hand with the butterfly syringe (one with the wings on it) and two in the hands. My practices didn't go so well...I wasnt able to hit all of them. But today was pass off day and I was able to hit all 3 of them plus one practice all in one try! Very cool!

In the past month, 3 teenagers all my age have passed away (John Doucette, Jake Hawkes, and Hilary Peterson). Some I was friends with, others just acquaintences. All of them in different ways, all of them too young. But the one thing I've taken away from all of their deaths was that none of us know when our time will be up...so we need to live our lives without any regrets. Live life to the fullest, and enjoy every minute of it! That's what all three of these great teenagers did...they lived great lives!

I'm scheduled to leave on my externship on September 14th. Kind of excited. Not sure where I'll be heading yet...probably up to Budge Clinic. I'm way excited!

For those of you who wouldn't have thunk it...I actually am an artist. ha. Here are some drawings I've done over my lifetime. I started drawing when I was 11 years old...taking private lessons while my knee was mending from soccer. After a year my knee was better so I stopped lessons, but never stopped drawing. Sorry they're blurry...I took pics of them so they're not the best.

Charlie lately

Here's Charlie...7 months old! He is getting so big...last time I tried to weigh him he was over 50 pounds!!! One heck of a big dog...which is good for us b/c we LOVE big dogs!!! So far he has chewed up two laptop charger cords...only when he's scared home alone. ha. Anyways, just thought I'd post something about him.

Owl in the Backyard!

Last week we were surprised to find this owl (we think it was a baby) in our tree. He was trying to sleep so I think we were annoying him. ha. It was pretty cool though!!!

Kelly Clarkson!!!

Its been awhile, so I decided to post on the most recent activity I've been up to. A couple Thursdays ago me, my sister, and my two cousins headed down to the UVU baseball stadium for a Kelly Clarkson concert. It kind of sprinkled during it, but all in all, it was way fun! ha. Update

Wow. It's been forever!!! ha. Just an update. I've been going to school for two months now and am getting pretty far!!! Apparently my teachers think if I can keep going at pace I'm doing right now I'll be done by this August. Crazy huh!

Monday I start with the lab...which is basically learning how to do blood draws on the arm and hand, and eventually (a little later) doing IV's in both those places. I'm way excited and nervous at the same time! I'm loving class!

Stupid Phone

Hey...so today I accidentally washed my phone when it was in my pants pocket but luckily it was almost to the end of my contract so I was able to renew it and get a new phone for not too bad of price. Here's the thing - I lost all my contacts, which is pretty much all of you guys! If you would, please comment and leave your cell# and home # if I had that and I'll add you guys. Ha.

April Fool's

Today I (with the help of my sister - she had the plan and I put it into play)and my sister pulled a way good prank on my mommy dearest. ha. We drove to the Middle School around 11 am (as you know my mom works as a lunch lady there) and I drove her car (the explorer) back to our house with a spare key I found. Then when she got off work (around 2 pm) we went back and watched, laughing hilariously, as she tried to figure out where she had parked. Ha. She couldn't figure out if she had forgotten where she'd parked or if someone had stolen the car. After awhile I figured she had suffered enough so I jumped out from behind another car and yelled "APRIL FOOLS!!!" It was awesome!!!

SCHOOL'S HERE!!!!!

April 6th is the big day!!! Ha. Its the day I start my medical assisting class. I'm so psyched!!! The only bummer is I have to do school M-F during the summer, but I guess I can live with that :) I never thought I'd ever say this - but I MISS SCHOOL!!!!! haha. I went and bought my books ahead of time and have been looking through things so I think I kinda understand how the class works - but who knows...I may have it completely wrong. ha. I'm just excited to start!!! Here are pics of me in my scrubs and of my stethoscope/blood pressure cuff:








Charlie has grown up a ton!!! He's definitely still a handful, but we've been going to obedience school so it has helped quite a bit! I love having a dog in the house though!!!!! As you can tell, he's definitely a character. ha.







Anyways, things here are going good! A little stressful trying to make sure everything's done/getting done so that I can start school. I really can't wait!!! ha.

Quick Update

Hey! Sorry I don't have any pics...but I've just been kinda busy lately. ha. Charlie's getting pretty big...his paws are very large compared to the rest of his body so we know that we're in for a very big dog! But, we're okay with that b/c we're used to big dogs.

So far he's peed many times on the carpet and tile...but luckily that's all he's done in the house. He's pretty good about going to the door when he needs to go, but sometimes we don't catch him in time. ha.

Other than that, he's definitely a little puppy biting everyone and everything. ha. But he's definitely worth it and he definitely fits into our family very well!

New Puppy

I never thought I'd ever be able to say this!!!! I'm (we're) getting a puppy!!!!! Haha. The reason why I said I am getting one is cuz I'm going to be the main one taking care of him. Anyways, he's a mix between an Australian sheepdog and we think a border collie. His name is Charlie...and it totally fits him. He's seriously gotta be one of the cutest puppies alive! I get to pick him up on Thursday from the shelter (we're adopting him). I wish I could've already brought him home...but they have to keep them in 'quarantine' for a week when they're brand new to the shelter...so I've had to wait. Anyways, enjoy the pics!
